Electronic Design Engineer
Able require an Electronic Engineering graduate with a few years of industrial experience to work within the engineering team based in Northwich, Cheshire. The candidate must have an in-depth understanding of circuit design and PCB layout. Capability for firmware and software development would also be useful.
We use Cadstar for PCB designs, and experience of this or similar tools is desirable. The design emphasis is on reliability and robustness, while also optimising manufacturability and cost.
A positive attitude is essential, as is flexibility, creativity and pragmatism, combined with an in-depth understanding of real-world solutions. We are a very busy small company, and this is an important role within the company, so dynamism and energy are prerequisites. The position is full time, and is available immediately.
Experience of the following would be advantageous:
| * | Proven experience of design of microcontroller circuitry in general, and preferably Renesas H8S family cores |
| * | Circuit design, including for example: control circuitry, load drivers, stepper motor control, signal conditioning, ADC, DC-DC converter design, design for EMC, battery management, Bluetooth, WiFi, RS-232, USB, IrDA, and many more elements |
| * | PCB layout allowing for mechanical and EMC considerations |
| * | Experience of using NiMH and Lithium Ion battery chemistries |
| * | Building, testing, debugging prototypes and early production models |
| * | Creating and maintaining full design and manufacturing record information to ISO 9001:2008 standards |
| * | Experience of testing and compliance processes for EMC and other certifications (e.g. CE, LVD, CB, FCC, UL, etc) |
| * | Understanding and familiarity with embedded firmware in C and C++ |
| * | Good presentation skills essential for internal & external documentation and liaison |
| * | Competence at MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel etc) is expected |
| * | Ability to understand and write PC software (VB, VC, etc) would be useful |
| * | Experience of mobile applications, such as Blackberry or Windows CE, would be useful |
