| 30 September 1997 New Portable printer offers fast print speed Able Systems has designed and manufactured a new high speed mini-printer. Called the Ap860-B, the printer uses a fixed head, thermal dot line printing mechanism and prints at a typical rate of 40mm per second, an exceptionally fast print speed from such a small unit. Measuring just 104mm (W) by 158mm (D) by 82mm (H), this compact printer offers a cost effective solution to a wide range of receipt printing, in particular where high speed, reliability and portability are essential. The Ap860-B is currently available as a battery powered unit, complete with a rechargeable and replaceable battery pack, which slides easily into the underside of the printer, allowing fully portable functionality. The addition of a spare battery pack makes the printer suitable for many mobile applications including in-vehicle receipting, field test and measurement, medical equipment and car park ticketing. |

| With an ergonomic design, the Ap860-B can be used as a stand alone unit, hand held or fixed to a belt for true portability. Easy access to the paper roll is provided by simply opening the top cover of the unit and because of the thermal print mechanism no ink ribbon is required.
The number of printable columns is software selectable, while the Ap860-B uses standard 57.5mm wide thermal paper and incorporates a full IBM character set. Offering a MCBF (mean cycle between failure) of five million lines, the Ap860-B is extremely reliable, greatly reducing downtime. |
