Now available from Able Systems is a range of printer mechanisms which includes the world's smallest line printer, the SS105, which measures just 42 x 24x 26mm. The range is additionally complemented by the 58mm SS205; available in three models, standard, low voltage and high speed. Each unit is also extremely lightweight at only 26g and, in addition, offers 30% power savings over previous versions. These units are ideal for portable applications including: portable printers and terminals, hospitality terminals, medical equipment, point of sale terminals and taxi meters. Featuring easy paper loading and opto paper sensor, the new printhead technology gives further improvements in sharpness and prints at speeds of up to 75mm/s. Operating voltages start from only 2.7V for the low voltage version rising to a maximum range of 5 to 9.5V for the high-speed model. All models in the SS205 range can use paper with a maximum width of up to 58mm and can print across 48mm of the paper. The LV and HS versions have 384 dots printing up to 8 dots per mm, while the standard 204 has 192 dots at 4 dots per mm. Featuring full electrostatic protection, the printers use only a single small pitch FPC ribbon for connection to the driver board. Life is excess of 30km.
