Technical Support Engineer

Northwich, Cheshire, UK

We are looking for an energetic and personable professional to join our team in a junior role. This role covers technical support, sales support and application engineering so is ideal for a new graduate or someone hoping to transition roles.

Overall Job Duties:

Respond to technical support requests by phone & email.

Identify customer requirements and escalate complex tickets, as needed.

Support the sales team in developing new customers and orders, by recommending the most suitable products and answering technical queries.

Identify opportunities for new or bespoke products. Work closely with the sales and R&D teams to realise these products.

Specific Duties:

Responsible to the Chief Commercial Officer and working alongside the sales and engineering teams.

Ensure prompt responses to technical queries from customers and sales associates

Provide input on the creation & maintenance of technical documents such as datasheets, user guides, and website pages.

Assist the R&D team with specifying & sourcing accessories for products as required.

Support the production team in creating & maintaining test procedures, documentation, and software for product testing.

Keep up to date on new trends, technological advancements, and competitor products to ensure Able Systems products are as good as they can be.

Technical Support Engineer – Requirements

The successful candidate will be adaptable and keen to apply themselves to a wide range of projects. This role has opportunities for growth within technical sales or applications engineering, depending on the candidate’s strengths and preferences.

Specifically, they will need to be/have:

  • Experience in a Customer Facing or IT role.
  • A confident communicator both speaking and writing.
  • A power-user comfortable with PCs and tech in general.
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Desirable Requirements:

Experience with, or strong interest in, the following are especially desirable:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent (or equivalent experience)
  • Basic software writing or scripting skills (e.g. Python / C# / Bash)
  • Experience using single-board computers or microcontrollers
  • Electronics soldering and rework experience
  • Circuit and PCB Design experience
Able Offers:
  • This position will attract a base salary £26,000 – £34,000 plus benefits.  However, we will keep an open mind to candidates that fall outside of this range either below or above.
  • The package may also include a bonus relating to performance and other key indicators.
