Creating a "One Size Fits All" Printer for Italian Cash Handling Systems
As a premier distributor of cash handling systems into the Italian market, Sitrade Italy SpA has an installed base of more than 80,000 machines.
Most of the machines supplied for coin and banknote counting have a printer as part of the solution – to provide receipts and a defined audit trail.
When Able Systems began working with Sitrade, they had a printer estate made up of several different printer models from different manufacturers.
This meant they had to hold several different models of printer, along with spare parts and their service engineers needed to carry all possible printer variants, to be able to resolve any problems they came across.
Sitrade needed a simpler and more cost-effective way, ideally a single printer that would work with the varying communication protocols of the equipment they supply.
Able’s engineering team worked closely with Sitrade to develop a new receipt printer solution. The printer recognises which of nine different coin or banknote counters it is connected to and responds accordingly, enabling Sitrade to replace the existing printer base and streamline operations.
Today Sitrade only orders and stocks the Ap1310DP receipt printer.
Which creates savings in inventory procurement and management as well as in the capital investment in printer stock and spares.
Its service engineers only need to carry one printer model – saving on repeat calls due to the correct printer not being available on the first visit.
