|Electronic Hardware Design Engineer||
The position is full time, is available immediately and has a wide range of responsibilities covering the entire design process from concept generation through to on-going development of product lines. The candidate should have experience of designing and developing microcontroller systems for real-time, embedded applications. We use Cadstar for PCB designs, and experience of this or similar tools is desirable. The design emphasis is on reliability and robustness, while also optimising manufacturability and cost. We are looking for an individual with hands-on experience and in-depth understanding of circuit design and PCB layout, while also capable of firmware development necessary. The following are all either essential or advantageous: · Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team and liaise with other departments · A strong problem-solving initiative · A 'can-do' attitude to issues · Experience of full product life-cycle from concept to Tier 3 support · Proven experience of design of microcontroller circuitry, preferably ARM · Schematic capture and PCB layout using Cadstar, although training may be offered to those with experience of other CAD systems · Expertise in circuit design, including, but not limited to, as many as possible of the following: Ø Control circuitry, load drivers, stepper motor control, Ø Digital/Analog signal conditioning, Ø Design for EMC, Ø DC-DC converter design, Ø Battery management (e.g. NiMH, Li Ion, LiPo, LiFEPO4), Ø Design for mass-production including test equipment and systems, Ø Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB, NFC, RS-232, SPI, I2C · Good C and C++ firmware skills · Software design (Python, VC, VC#) for utilities, testing, commissioning · Source Control, e.g. GIT, subversion · Use of team collaboration tools, e.g. Confluence · Creating and maintaining full design and manufacturing record information to ISO 9001:2008 standards · Building, testing, debugging prototypes and early production models · Design of test equipment and procedures for high reliability production of volume parts · Excellent presentation skills are essential for internal & external documentation and liaison · Competence with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel etc) is expected · Experience of testing and compliance processes for EMC and other certifications (e.g. CE, LVD, CB, FCC, UL, CCC, etc) · Experience of Android, iOS, Windows Mobile or other mobile OS We are looking for a graduate in Electronic Engineering or similar, who is able to work independently as part of a small multi-disciplinary team, specifically liaising with Firmware and Mechanical Design engineers. A positive attitude is essential, as is flexibility, creativity and pragmatism, combined with an in-depth understanding of real-world solutions. We are generally very busy, and this is an important role within the company, so dynamism and energy are prerequisites, but overtime and travel will rarely be required.
