Senior Electronic Design Engineer

Description: The position of Senior Electronic Design Engineer is permanent, full time and available immediately.
Location: Based at Head Office in Northwich, Cheshire with opportunities for hybrid working.
We are looking for a competent, experienced, professional Design Engineer who is able to work independently in a small multi-disciplinary team.
A positive attitude is essential, as is flexibility, creativity and pragmatism, combined with an in depth understanding of real world solutions.
Our R&D team is on a hybrid model with a mix of home- and office-based working, requirements & arrangements for which can be discussed prior to appointment.
Minimum Requirements:
- A degree or equivalent in Electronic Engineering or related discipline
- Proven experience of PCB design from concept & specification development, development of solutions, selection of components, through schematic capture and PCB layout (Ideally using KiCad)
- Experience of building, testing, debugging prototypes and early production models. Use of scopes, bus analysers, etc
- Software/firmware experience would be useful, but as a minimum basic software and firmware skills for commissioning of hardware are essential
- Excellent spoken and written English
Desirable Requirements:
Experience of the following would be extremely useful:
- KiCad schematic and PCB layout
- STM32 Cortex M4
- Bluetooth & WiFi modules
- USB 3 Type-C including Power Delivery control via STUSB or similar modules
- Li-Ion battery charging and management and mobile power considerations
- Switch mode power supply design
- Electronic Simulation, e.g. LTSpice
- Digital/Analog signal conditioning
- Control circuitry, load drivers, stepper motor control
- I2C, SPI, UART, USB data interfaces
- Design for EMC and other certifications (e.g. CE, LVD, CB, FCC, UL, CCC, etc). Experience of formal testing extremely useful
- Capable of ‘bringing up prototype hardware’, and be comfortable using scopes, bus analysers, etc
- Building, testing, debugging prototypes and early production models
- Lateral thinking, problem solving skills and extremely good attention to detail
- Design of test equipment and procedures for high reliability production of volume parts
- Software and firmware for real-time and mobile systems
- C, C++, Python
- Source Control, e.g. GIT, subversion
- Collaboration tools, e.g. Confluence
- Experience of Windows App, Android, iOS or other mobile application development would be useful
